Contracting with third party entities accounts for one of the highest cost expenditure for healthcare facilities, second only to employee costs. While the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has estimated the Act’s anti-fraud provisions would save about $5.8 billion over the next ten years, that is less than one percent of the expected fraud against federal healthcare programs during the same period.
